Hibiscus Simple Syrup

This syrup can be used to swirl into cheesecakes, used as a simple syrup in margaritas and used as a drizzle on salads. Use the candied hibiscus on salads too!



If we are what we eat, well I am awfully sweet.

Hibiscus Simple Syrup


Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup dried hibiscus

  • 2/3 cup sugar

  • 1 1/3 cups water

Instructions:

  1. Add the dried hibiscus, sugar and water to small saucepan.

  2. Heat on high heat until lightly boiling.

  3. Reduce heat to medium and let simmer for about 20-25 minutes until reduced and slightly thickened.

  4. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.

  5. Strain the liquid from the hibiscus.

  6. Dry the hibiscus on a paper towel and store.

  7. Store syrup in air tight jar.
